Three Dead in Separate Drowning Incidents in Banteay Meanchey

Banteay Meanchey: Three people have died in separate drowning incidents in Banteay Meanchey province on Sunday. The fatalities include an 11-year-old girl from Phnom Touch Cheung village, Phnom Touch commune, in Mongkul Borei district. According to the residents, the girl identified as Thea Srey Li was playing in a deep canal which caused her death. It happened at around 4 o’ clock in the afternoon.

At the same time, a 42-year-old resident of Damrey village, Nimit commune, Poipet city was reported dead from drowning. The victim was identified as Son Savuth. Prior to the tragic incident, Savuth was fishing together with his son when all of a sudden, their boat capsized. The son luckily survived but Savuth had drowned and was no longer revived.

Two hours later, another drowning incident was recorded in the province. This time it happened in Kantuot village, Phneat commune, Serey Sophorn city. The drowning fatality was known as Oeun Rin, 23 years old. He was fishing along the river in Kork Romchek village when he suddenly fell into it. Due to the strong current of the water, no one was able to help him. His body was carried to the village of Kantuot where he was found already lifeless.
